Diclazuril belongs to the group of benzeneacetonitriles and has anti-coccidial activity
against Eimeria species. Depending on the coccidia species, diclazuril affects on either
the sexual or the asexual stages of the development cycle of the parasite. Diclazuril is
poorly absorbed from the intestinal canal, therefore it has mainly effect on coccidia are
present in the intestines.
COXITIC-D25 is effective in the prevention and treatment of coccidial infections in lambs
caused by Eimeria crandallis or Eimeria ovinoidalis and in calves caused by Eimeria
bovis or Eimeria zuernii. In cases where there is uncertainty about whether symptoms
are caused by coccidiosis, about whether examination is recommended. Diclazuril is
effective in the prevention and treatment of coccidial infections in poultry caused by
Eimeria tenella, E. necatrix, E. acervulina, E. brunetti, E. mitis (mivati), and E. maxima.
Because diclazuril is effective against E. maxima later in its life cycle, subclinical intestinal
lesions may be present for a short time after infection. Diclazuril was shown in studies
to reduce lesion scores and improve the performance and health of birds challenged
with E. maxima.
