FLUMSTIN

Flumequine belongs to the group of quinolones and acts bactericidal against mainly
Gram-negative bacteria like Campylobacter, E. coli, Haemophilus, Pasteurella and
Salmonella spp. Colistin is an antibiotic from the group of polymyxins which are
synthesized by aerobic spore-forming coli Bacillus polymyxa. Colistin as part of the
formulation has a bactericidal action against Gram-negative bacteria like E. coli,
Salmonella spp., Pasteurella spp., Haemophilus spp., Bordetella spp. Colistin binds to
phospholipids of the cytoplasmic membrane, and increases its permeability for both
intra- and external cellular components which leads to the destruction of the bacterial
cell. Diseases of respiratory, gastrointestinal and urinary tract, sepsis, osteomyelitis,
bacterial dermatitis caused by pathogens susceptible to flumequine (E. coli, Pasteurella
spp., Salmonella spp., Proteus spp., Klebsiella spp., Pseudomonas spp.,Haemophilus
spp., Staphylococcus aureus).
